More than a delightful place to live, Haciendo Del Rio is a family tradition which started nearly 50 years ago in Illinois.

Back then young Mark Wallschlaeger helped his dad, Bill, develop a few parks for camping trailers in Rockford, Illinois, starting in the late 40s. In 1976 Mark brought his own family to Florida and put what he learned to use by developing two retirement style manufactured home communities in Orlando.

In 1989 Mark, his wife Judi and their now grown sons, Kevin, Randal, Steven and Brian, embarked upon their dream project: to build the finest, most complete, active retirement community - in an ideal location, and still keep it affordable.

Hacienda Del Rio is the result of that dream and those efforts.

In six short years this pristine, palm and pine covered stretch of land along the Intracoastal Waterway has been transformed into an unsurpassed community. And each year the Wallschlaegers add to its desirability as development of each phase progresses.

From any angle, Hacienda Del Rio looks inviting. At the north end of the community lies the main clubhouse and many of the community recreactional facilities such as tennis, shuffleboard, horseshoe pits and one of two fishing piers.
